Tomato Sweet Potato Soup

Difficulty: Simple

  • 3 lbs of Tango® Tomatoes
  • 2 lbs peeled and diced sweet potatoes (use the orange yams!), celery root, parsnips or carrots would also work well
  • 6 oz small can tomato paste
  • 8 cups of veggie stock or broth
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup maple syrup (honey would also be great)

A delicious homemade soup made with our Tango® Tomatoes. This healthy soup is easy to make and completely soul soothing!


  1. In a large pot saute the onions, garlic and celery in the butter over medium heat, cook for 5 minutes
  2. Add the Tango® Tomatoes and the tomato paste, cook for 2 minutes
  3. Add the yams, cook for 5 minutes
  4. Add the veggie stock, cover and cook for 30 minutes
  5. Remove lid, check to see if the yams are tender and cooked, check the seasoning, adjust with more salt if desired, remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes
  6. Add the maple syrup and puree the soup in a mixer until smooth and velvety
  7. Serve with a crusty loaf of bread and enjoy! This soup freezes well and is perfect for any family dinner or gathering.
